Indigenous Voices Unite: Highlighting the IFIP Global Conference in Kenya
From February 18-21, 2025, the African Indigenous Women organization proudly co-hosted the Indigenous Fund for Indigenous Peoples (IFIP) Global Conference in Naivasha, Kenya. The event brought together over 300 delegates from Indigenous communities, funding organizations, and other stakeholders from around the world.
Under the theme “Global Impact, Local Solutions: Funding Indigenous Self-Determination and Leadership,” the conference was a vital platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing. Attendees engaged in discussions on how to better align donor practices with Indigenous values, focusing on the 5Rs of Indigenous Philanthropy: Respect, Reciprocity, Responsibility, Relationship, and Redistribution.
The three-day conference featured 18 parallel sessions, networking opportunities, and a variety of special events, including:
- The 25th Anniversary celebration of IFIP
- The 4th Indigenous-led Funds Gathering
- The 2nd Indigenous Youth Leadership Dialogue
- The Indigenous Learning Institute
A key part of the conference was the opportunity for women leaders to share their diverse perspectives, contributing to a rich and inclusive conversation about promoting Indigenous self-determination and leadership globally.
